“Amici, in ogni evento… Pensa alla patria” is an aria from Gioachino Rossini’s opera “Guillaume Tell” (William Tell). It is sung by the character Arnoldo (Arnold Melchtal) in Act IV of the opera. In this aria, Arnoldo expresses his conflicting emotions as he grapples with his loyalty to his homeland, Switzerland, and his love for the Austrian princess Mathilde. “Guillaume Tell” is known for its grand overture and was Rossini’s last opera, often regarded as a French grand opera.
